Set amongst the rolling Angus countryside, Courtyard Cottage is a stone built covered courtyard on the outskirts of the village of Letham, and just a short drive from the market town of Forfar. It has been converted into a beautiful 3 bedroom holiday cottage which will sleep 6 to 7 people and is available to let throughout the year and can be booked using the contact details on this website. The large kitchen/dining area is the heart of the property, boasting high ceilings and a glass atrium which floods the room with light. Three bedrooms, one bath and two shower rooms as well as a spacious sitting room come together to make this a perfect family holiday home.

The nearby village of Letham, only a mile away offers an array of small outlets for your convenience including two grocery stores,a hardware store, a post office, an Indian takeaway, unisex hairdresser, bakery,dress shop, craft shops, beauty treatment salon, garage, as well as two friendly pubs, which often host live music. In addition the nearby market town of Forfar or Seaside town of Arbroath have several supermarkets between them.

Ideally situated for a wide variety of pastimes, Courtyard Cottage is a great location for golfers as there are numerous golf courses, some 45 public, private and 'pay as you play' in and around Tayside, including traditional links, parkland and heathland ones, famous ones such as Carnoustie (10 miles) and Rosemount, as well as lesser-known challenges such as Panmure and Edzell to name but a few. The 'Home of Golf', St Andrews (40 miles), and the world renowned Gleneagles are both within easy reach of the property.

Some of the finest salmon and trout rivers in Scotland can be found nearby including the world famous River Tay and its tributaries which include the rivers Isla and Ericht. The South Esk and the North Esk are just a few miles further north east and there is no shortage of excellent rainbow and brown trout fisheries within the region.

Some of the region's finest views can be found in the stunning ski resort of Glen Shee. Only an hour's drive from Courtyard Cottage. This is also very popular with walkers.

Angus is renowned for its fabulous sporting estates, Kinnaird Park, Glamis Castle, Pearcie, Prosen, Kinnordy and Cortachy just to name a few. Courtyard cottage is ideally situated centrally for all of these venues not to mention one or two testing clay pigeon grounds like Auchterhouse Country Sports. The integral gun safe also adds to the peace of mind when the horn has sounded!

Just a short drive away is Forfar (home of the bridie), and only 6 miles to Glamis Castle, childhood home of the late Queen Mother and the setting for Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’. The fabulous Dunnottar Castle is a little over half an hours drive away and figures well in a day trip to Aberdeen. The author of Peter Pan, JM Barrie, was born in Kirriemuir and in addition the town is also the gateway to the magnificent Angus glens, the foothills of the mighty Cairngorm Mountains, a haven for wildlife and a peaceful refuge from modern life. The Glens and surrounding countryside offer numerous walks for all abilities, including 14 of Scotland’s munro’s - mountains over 3,000ft.
Angus is also an excellent starting point for those wishing to experience the world renowned "North Coast 500"!

We are also fortunate to be close to the coast. The area boasts some fine beaches, including Montrose beach which is a blue flag beach, 50 miles of unspoilt Angus coastline and dramatic red sandstone cliffs. Lunan Bay, recently voted as one of the best beaches in Scotland is well worth a visit. Arbroath (famous for the Arbroath Smokie, a wood-smoked haddock, which is produced in small family smokehouses and is a real delicacy) is only 10 miles away. Beyond Arbroath you will find Montrose basin nature reserve (18 miles). Set on the edge of a tidal estuary, the basin attracts over 50,000 migratory birds each year. You can watch the busy life of these birds from the comfort of the visitor centre, which has a panoramic view of the basin.
